Crocheting with Wire

Curious about wire crochet? So was I. That’s why I explored this iteration of the craft for I Like Crochet magazine. I discovered that wielding a crochet hook against wire instead of yarn takes only a little getting used to, but it can yield fantastic results.

After visiting my local craft store and stocking up on lots of gorgeous beads, different types of wire, and a variety of jewelry findings, I started to play. The end result of my exploration was the beautiful and super easy Electric Jade Necklace. I also wrote an article to help you through your first wire crochet project. Both are featured in the April 2015 issue of the magazine.

But this issue of I Like Crochet is chock full of interesting projects! The spring-inspired features include:ILCApril2015Cover

  • Love your lace with seven dainty designs.
  • Put a spring in your step with 30+ fresh and fabulous patterns.
  • Enjoy our next Elemental Shawl, the Raindrop Lace Shawl.
  • Explore fantastic floral patterns.
  • Not to mention my how-to tutorial on crocheting with wire.

A word of warning… working with and shopping for beads can be very addictive. If you aren’t careful you may end up looking for a place to store your bead stash next to your yarn stash. Still, it’s worth it when you can make beautiful jewelry pieces like the Electric Jade Necklace. So subscribe today to receive the latest issue of I Like Crochet on your iPad or your Desktop.
