Vogue Knitting: Crochet 2013
This time last year I was consumed by Vogue Knitting: Crochet 2012. Vogue’s first crochet special issue in 15 years, it was all any of my crochet friends could talk about. “Better run out and buy a copy right away,” we told each other. “We’ll let Vogue know we support fashionable crochet.” We were confident that widespread enthusiasm for Vogue’s crochet publications would encourage them to release more high quality crochet magazines.
When you run out to buy your copy of Vogue Knitting: Crochet 2013, be sure to take a look at my #05 Felted Tote. A stylish yet immensely practical bag is my contribution to the magazine’s Red Hot in Rio collection. Crocheted in Manos del Uruguay’s Wool Clasica, the design incorporates tactile and visual interest with the strategic placement of Crocodile Stitch. Felting adds strength to the bag without losing texture.
In the Glamour Girls collection we see designs inspired by old Hollywood style. My #25 Kimono Style Cardi is one of many lovely crocheted garments featured here. This piece mixes open-work and texture by using one of my favorite lace stitch patterns with a combination of Rialto Lace and Angel (both yarns from Debbie Bliss.) The result is a feminine and easy to wear cardigan.
Vogue is establishing a presence in the crochet marketplace, and I’m proud to have my designs play a small part. Sign up HERE to be first to hear about my new patterns, tutorials and news.
